The Gendarmerie Martyrs Monument is a complex created to forever preserve the names, identities, and memories of gendarmerie personnel who willingly sacrificed their lives in the name of protecting and defending the homeland against internal and external enemies, from the establishment of the Gendarmerie in 1839 to the present day. The central monument was opened on August 18, 1998.
