The 57th Regiment was an Ottoman regiment that mobilized on the morning of April 25, 1915, to stop the ANZAC landings, which are considered the beginning of the Gallipoli Campaign.
Established on February 1, 1915, in Yarkışla, Tekirdağ, as one of three regiments (72nd, 77th, and 57th) belonging to the 19th Division, the 57th Regiment's commander was Hüseyin Avni Bey (Arıburun).
On February 22, 1915, the 57th Regiment received its flag in a ceremony from Lieutenant Colonel Mustafa Kemal, the commander of the 19th Division. The regiment set out for Çanakkale on February 23, 1915, arriving in Eceabat (formerly Maydos) on February 25, 1915. After the 5th Army Command, to which the 19th Division was attached, was established by Enver Pasha, the 57th Regiment was transferred to Bigalı Village as a general reserve on March 26, 1915. From this date until April 24, 1915, the 57th Regiment, under the direct supervision of Lieutenant Colonel Mustafa Kemal and Major Hüseyin Avni, conducted exercises in the Bigalı Village and Turşun region.
