The Seyit Onbaşı Monument commemorates Seyit Ali Çabuk, or Seyit Ali Onbaşı, (born September 1889 - died 1939), an Ottoman soldier who fought in the Gallipoli Campaign during World War I.
The Mecidiye Battery is a battery located on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Çanakkale. Built in 1892 by Asaf Pasha south of Kilitbahir Castle, the battery consists of 8 bonnets and 4 German-made 24 cm and 2 28 cm caliber cannons. During the Gallipoli Campaign, it was commanded by Captain Hilmi (Şanlıtop) Bey. This is also the battery where Seyit Onbaşı lifted the 270-kilogram shell.
