Antique Perre City that has been at the Orenli (Pirin) District, at the 5 kilometers north of Adıyaman, is one of the five biggest antique cities of Kingdom of Commagene.
Perre, where had been a small settlement center during the period of Kingdom of Commagene, had experienced its hey-days during Rome Period. Perre, where had been a haunt between the Capital City Samosata and Melitene (Malatya), has been mentioned through the kindness of its water at the Antique Rome literatures. The Rome Fountain, from which the mentioned water was pulsing, has been still employed. It had maintained its significance during Byzantine period, also. The fact that the Antique City had sent a representative to the Council of Bible, held in Niceaia Iznik, indicates that the city had been a religious center at the same time.
