The Seljuk Tolerance Mosque is also known locally as the Çardak Village Tolerance Mosque or the Mosque-Church. Located in Çardak Village—part of the Nevşehir central district—this structure is one of the remarkable historical edifices of the Cappadocia region, an area where diverse faiths have coexisted for centuries.
Dating back to the Anatolian Seljuk era, the structure is known to have continued serving as a place of worship in subsequent periods as well. Its most distinctive feature—setting it apart from similar buildings—is a layout that enabled both Muslim and Christian communities to worship within the same structure. Consequently, it is regarded as a significant architectural example of the region's tradition of coexistence among diverse religions and cultures.
Today, the Seljuk Tolerance Mosque stands out for its historical and cultural identity; beyond shedding light on the past of Çardak Village, it is a unique structure that preserves traces of Cappadocia’s multicultural history for the present day.
