Sultan Memduh, whose real name was Mahmut, had borned in Tillo, on Saturday night, at the 20th day of Dhu'l-Qa'dah Month, in 1174 according to Hegira Calendar, in 1761 according to Christian era. He had studied many religious sciences such as grammar, syntax, interpretation, habit and Islamic law, by Ibrahim Hakkı, the khalif of Ismail Fakirullah, his grandfather.
The Great Veli Sultan Memduh had composed a divan of 47.000 couplets through the matureness gained in this world. This works of art, that has been precious enormously, has been sophistic that in Arabian, Persian and Turkish languages.
The tomb of the Sultan Memduh, who had passed away from In 1263 according to Hegira Calendar, in 1847 according to Christian era, has been in the Sultan Memduh Tomb that has been called by its own name in the town.
In 1830, the tomb had been constructed by Sultan Memduh for his son Sheik Abdurrahman, and he had been buried in the same tomb, also.
