It is 55 km away from Adıyaman and on the northeast of Karakus Tumulus. The length of the bridge, which is over Kahta Brook, is 120 meters, width is 7 meters. It had been built over two main lands at the narrowest section of Kahta Brook, from 92 big cut stones.
The stones had been connected to each other through a compression technique called “press”, without using soil mixture. It is consisted from a large arch with the height of 30 meters and a small secondary arch at the east side. In the epigraph over the bridge, it is stated that the bridge had been built for XVI. Rome Legion in Samsat by Emperor Septimus Severus between the years of 198-200. One column each at the four corners of the bridge, which had been dedicated to his wife Julia
Domna, had been built in the name of the family members. Presently, three columns have survived.
