The Urfa City Center is located on Dambak Hill. It is estimated to have been built in 2000 BC. It played an important role during the Crusades. It was repaired during the Ottoman period. It is said that the two stone pillars on top of the castle were used as catapults when Prophet Abraham was thrown into the fire.
